Also, I thought the Gumball was an illegal race. I was surprised to see such a high profile event for the start. As well as the high profile cars with ridiculous wraps that make them stand out even more. Either way, cool that you got access enough to get a cool shot.
The race itself ain't illegal. It's promoted on tv stations, even at the indy 500!
Now a days it's more a high profile event/show.
I had press access in NYC, but the only good thing about it was at the grid itself.
When they took off, there wasn't anything provided for the photographers or video people.
We had 2 make our own way to a good spot.
So i ran 2 blocks just to get a bit decent place for some photo's.
The smoke coming out of the metro was a very nice bonus
I don't know why I thought it was an illegal race. I thought they were talking about it on Smoking Tire podcast, but I may have confused Gumball with another rally race that actually is illegal from the same conversation.
Sounds like you managed to run into a right time right place situation in the middle of a lot of madness.
